Roads and Bridges

Upper Hunter Shire  Council provides a wide range of "on the ground" services to the local community which includes the construction and maintenance of local and regional roads.

The strategic objective for Council’s roads and bridges is to undertake roads maintenance and construction works to acceptable standards in a cost-effective, sustainable manner.  Council publishes a weekly Works Schedule which gives a quick overview of where staff are working. Upper Hunter Shire Council controls a road network of approximately 1,749km, with a total of 124 bridges.

Council also provides road maintenance services under contract to the Roads and Maritime Services for the State classified road networks in the Upper Hunter Shire Local Government area.
