The Cassilis Footbridge Project is a community infrastructure initiative located in Cassilis within the Upper Hunter Shire, NSW. The project involves the construction of a new pedestrian footbridge over the Munmurra River, to be located on the downstream side of the existing bridge, with an offset of approximately 0.5 metres. The works also include associated pathways and landscaping. The project aims to improve pedestrian safety and enhance connectivity throughout the village by providing a safe and accessible river crossing that links residential areas, recreational spaces, and key community facilities, while supporting active transport such as walking and cycling.

The project is funded through the NSW Government’s EnergyCo Legacy Infrastructure Fund, established as part of the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone. Approximately $1.38 million has been allocated to deliver the Cassilis Footbridge, pathways, and landscaping works. The Legacy Infrastructure Fund is designed to support infrastructure projects that deliver long-term and lasting benefits for local communities within the Renewable Energy Zone and contribute to sustainable regional development.

Once completed, the Cassilis Footbridge will deliver significant social and community benefits, including improved pedestrian safety, increased accessibility for residents of all ages and abilities, and stronger connections within the village. The project will enhance community amenity, promote healthier and more active lifestyles, and contribute to the long-term liveability and resilience of Cassilis.
