The Jefferson Park Masterplan provides a clear and long term framework to guide the future development of Aberdeen’s primary sporting, recreation and events precinct. Developed through detailed site investigations and extensive consultation with sporting clubs, stakeholders and the wider community, the plan responds to local needs while respecting the unique riverside setting of the park. Key features of the Masterplan include upgraded rugby league, cricket and athletics facilities, new and improved clubhouses, change rooms, canteens and spectator areas, enhanced pedestrian pathways, and a reconfigured internal road and parking network to improve safety, accessibility and event management. The plan also strengthens the role of McKinnon Oval as a premier regional rugby league venue. Community focused improvements include expanded play and recreation spaces, multipurpose courts, picnic and shaded seating areas, river trails, RV and camping facilities, and environmental enhancements along the Hunter River. By guiding staged investment and future funding opportunities, the Jefferson Park Masterplan will ensure this important community asset continues to support sport, recreation, major events and everyday use for generations to come.
