Upper Hunter Shire Council resolved at its Ordinary Council Meeting on Monday 25 May 2026 to place the Draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) 2026–2030 on public exhibition for community feedback.
The Draft Plan demonstrates Council’s ongoing commitment to improving inclusion, accessibility and participation across the Upper Hunter community for people living with disability. The Plan outlines actions and priorities Council will work towards over the next four years to help create a more inclusive and accessible community for all.
The Disability Inclusion Action Plan has been developed in accordance with the requirements of the Disability Inclusion Act 2014 (NSW), which requires local councils to prepare and implement a DIAP addressing four key focus areas:
- Developing positive community attitudes and behaviours
- Creating liveable communities
- Supporting access to meaningful employment
- Improving access to services through better systems and processes
The Draft Disability Inclusion Action Plan 2026–2030 will be on public exhibition from Wednesday 27 May 2026 until 4:30pm Wednesday 24 June 2026.
Council encourages community members, local organisations and other stakeholders to review the draft document and provide feedback during the exhibition period.
Copies of the draft plan are available for viewing:
- At Council Administration Centres in Scone, Merriwa and Murrurundi
