Upper Hunter Shire Council invites expressions of interest from community members to join the Aberdeen Rail Disaster Commemoration Committee. This committee has been established to plan and coordinate the centenary commemoration of the Aberdeen Rail Disaster, marking 100 years since the event in June 1926. The focus of the commemoration is to recognise and honour the efforts of the Aberdeen community members who responded to the disaster. This is an opportunity to represent your community and contribute directly to how this important historical event is acknowledged. About the Committee The Aberdeen Rail Disaster Commemoration Committee is a subcommittee of the Community Advisory Committee – Aberdeen District and will operate as a sunset committee, dissolving after the commemorative event. The committee will be made up of: At least one (1) member of the Community Advisory Committee – Aberdeen District Up to nine (9) community representatives The committee will determine its own meeting frequency, with a minimum of two meetings per year, and will report back to the Community Advisory Committee – Aberdeen District. Who Can Apply Any resident of the Upper Hunter Shire Council Local Government Area may apply to be appointed as a community representative on the committee.
