Hunter Learner Night Drive

The Hunter Learner Night Drive is a community event organised by Hunter Valley Highway Patrol, Hunter Valley PD and Upper Hunter Shire Council. Proudly Supported by Bengalla Mining Company, Singleton Council and Muswellbrook Shire Council, Transport for NSW, Pays Air Service and JBS Scone.

This event is run quarterly in February, June, September and December. The aim is to expose Learner drivers (of any age) to real life driving scenarios when interacting with police in a controlled environment. Participants will be given the opportunity to drive around the track and be subjected to stationary and mobile breath tests with police giving advice and guidance on how to safely undertake this task.

The track also includes a section allowing drivers to practice such things as reverse parallel parking, roadcraft and vehicle manoeuvring.

Hunter Learner Night Drive is for learner drivers only (of any age) who must be accompanied by an appropriate supervisor (25+) at all times. Please bring your drivers’ licence as this will be sighted at registration - current Learner's Licence (driver) and an Unrestricted Civil Road Licence (supervisor) must be provided.

(NOTE: there is no in-car driving instruction from Police).

Venue access and registration commences prior to 5:30pm, followed by a briefing, information session, dinner and rescue demonstration. Driving sessions will commence shortly after. Drivers can stay as long as they like there is no set time limit.

Max Speed on the night is 50km/h. Drivers found in violation of these rules may be removed from the track.
All standard RMS Road Rules for Learners apply.
Vehicles are restricted to Learners and supervisor to limit distractions.
Limited spaces available. Tickets are $20 per car and may include more than one Learner per vehicle.
