THE LOCAL CHURCH

  • The local church is an assembly of ‘born again’ baptised believers united in organisation to practise New Testament ordinances, to meet together for worship, prayer, fellowship, teaching, and a united testimony; and to actively engage in carrying out the Great Commission.

  • The church and government each have definite and distinct spheres of responsibility.

  • The ordinances given to the local church are baptism by immersion, and the Lord's supper, a continuing memorial of the broken body and shed blood of Christ, until He returns.

  • There are two offices in the local church: pastor (also referred to as bishop or elder) and deacon. When there is more than one pastor, one of them will have a senior role as an administrative head. Pastors and deacons are to be men.

  • We believe in the independence and autonomy of the local church.

  • Compromising involvements with groups such as the World Council of Churches are contrary to the biblical admonition to 'come out from among them, and be separate'.
